  About the Artist
Former environmental policy planner, yoga teacher, writer and editor, Ruth Koch began her
journey into art about 25 years ago. An ink wash exercise in a beginning drawing class led
Ruth to an introductory watercolor class at a local college. A chance exploration became
an enduring passion, and she continues to be endlessly absorbed, challenged and entranced
by the medium. Ruth is inspired by repetitive patterns in nature and rhythmic interplays
of color and shape. She has recently been exploring still life, figures, and urban scenes,
but she is always drawn back to the nourishing beauty of the natural world around her.
Whatever the subject, Ruth finds painting to be a deeply satisfying, meditative process.
